Wayne State University

School of Business Administration

With origins that date back to 1918, the Wayne State University School of Business Administration has graduated more than 30,000 business and community professionals since its founding in 1946. Many of them play key roles at multinational corporations, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations, while others are successful, well-known entrepreneurs.

Since 1976, the School has been among a prestigious group of business schools worldwide (554) that hold accreditation from AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business Education. AACSB International accreditation is the highest standard of achievement for business schools. Member institutions confirm their commitment to quality and continuous improvement through a rigorous and comprehensive peer review.

Approximately 1,250 graduate students and 2,400 undergraduate students are currently enrolled in the School of Business Administration. Our undergraduates tend to be older (average age 23), work at least part time, and may be raising families. The majority of the students enrolled in the School’s graduate degree programs – Master of Business Administration, Master of Science in Accounting, Master of Science in Taxation – are practicing professionals who seek to advance their already successful careers.  These individuals hold part-time or full-time positions and manage to devote time to their employers, their families, and their university studies.

More than 60 faculty scholars bring their future-oriented, research-based knowledge to the classroom. In addition to full-time professors, the School relies on an adjunct faculty of business professionals, who provide their knowledge of "real-world" applications. The School places significant emphasis on globalization, distance education and technology, and is home to the Institute for Organizational and Industrial Competitiveness and the Manufacturing Information Systems Center.

The School of Business Administration at Wayne State University strives to serve its current students and alumni as well as to play a powerful role in the social and economic development of Detroit, Southeastern Michigan, and the world by building strategic partnerships with organizations in the private, public, and academic sectors.
